The Stone of Tear

The Stone of Tear has stood for thousands of years, watching the Third Age pass. When the world was broken, it was born. When empires rose and fell, it stood strong. For the people of Tear, it is the soul of their city. Proof that they can outlast the storms of the world. In its shadow, Tear hums with life and trade as sailors arrive from near and far to do business in its crowded streets. Above it all, The Stone of Tear remains silent, patient, and eternal; a relic of an age that refuses to be forgotten.

“Victors write history. Had I taken the Stone of Tear, history would have shown -I- was born on the slopes of Dragonmount. The sort of thing they say about you, now." - Mazrim Taim

Here's some of the reference I kept at hand while working on this - there's a lot of things going on in this painting and I needed to remind myself along the way to not forget important elements if I wanted to stay true to the books' description.
